Bio
Born in New York City, raised in Kennebunkport Maine, Benjamin Spalding’s influences and inspirations vary from a love of hip-hop culture, homosexual narratives, and anxiety to exploring aspects of ritual, catharsis and nature. Educated at New York University in Manhattan and received his BA in marketing and mass-media in 2007 all the while gaining fashion experience through freelance styling as well as contributing to fashion editorials in publications such as Interview Magazine and Men’s Vogue. Throughout his career in fashion, he has constantly pursued his artwork, going beyond 2-dimensional and photo-work, to site-specific installations and sculpture. His work has been featured in Ghost magazine, The Cheaper Show 10 in Vancouver and at Gallery OPEN by Alexandra Rockelman in Berlin where he currently resides.
